Taken from an email reply – about seeing through the ‘me’.

It is fairly easy to SEE where someone is coming from….even with a partial understanding, so to speak. One detects something, even though it may not be totally clear, one smells a rat if the activity is biased or self-centered.
The ‘pathway’ in the brain or mind of this habit of referring everything to the ‘me’ can be recognized easily in the so-called ‘other’.
Since this activity of ‘self-referencing’ ‘in oneself’ is so quick, and since once it is happening, the open view is seemingly obscured, thus a glimpse of this activity with impartial vision is a very rare thing indeed.
It seems that it is much easier to see that activity in the so-called ‘other’ – however the perception is a referencing to the ‘me’ also. Perception is not SEEING.
Seeing is seeing. Seeing is not thought or a product of thought. Thoughts appear in the seeing.
Knowing that is not a thought. It may appear as a thought. It remains as knowing no matter how it is translated by the mind.
One factor that remains ‘above’ all other factors is expressed in this way:
In the clear space of pure cognition, nothing is actually happening – where you are seeing from is undivided – it is non dual.
So, even logically if this is the case for all SEEING, all KNOWING – then you are LOOKING out of Non Duality.
No apparent circumstances touch that clear vision.
Getting the so-called ‘other’ to see this is impossible – merely because it is already happening – and all activities are nothing but THAT – One without a second.
In other words: The basic activity ‘behind’ and within all activities is this KNOWING. Without that knowing, what could possibly be known?
The inference of a ‘knower’ of this pure knowing comes from mind and time – while this immediate knowing is timeless.
