The simplest pointers bypass the intellect

The intelligence that is available to all is not a separate thing located in different patterns, things or beings.  Just as all things seen are appearing or registering in the activity of seeing, the intelligence is not located exclusively in the instrument called the intellect.   The telescope is an instrument.  The eye that looks through the telescope is an instrument.  The eye cannot see the eye.  The concept of or about a see-er is a concept.  A concept cannot see.  Can a thought up ‘me’ see?   Who do you think you are?  Can that image of self, ‘me’, see […]

The essence of self-aware consciousness – I am.

The Bodhisattva Avalokita, while moving in the deep course of Perfect Understanding, shed light on the five skundhas (the five functions or aspects that constitute the sentient being: matter, sensation, perception, mental formations and consciousness) and found them equally empty.  After this penetration, he overcame all pain. Speaking to his companion: “Listen Shariputra, form is emptiness, emptiness is form, form does not differ from emptiness, emptiness does not differ from form.  The same is true with feelings, perceptions, mental formations, and consciousness”. ……………………………………….. The words ‘I am’ are words.  The essence of ‘I am-ness’ is certainly not in the words. […]

Too simple – no one recognises it.

Is there actually some separate being that could recognise anything? The simplicity of the apparent mythical answer to the question about life, is not to be found in the mind.  Myriads of apparent individuals have pondered the great questions and mankind is no closer to a definitive answer than when the first man (or woman) ever contemplated the meaning of life. Is there an answer?  It may well be there (in the mind) but it seems that the intellect cannot find it.  Is it possible that the intellect cannot find a definitive answer because the answer is not an objective […]

Being identified with ‘I’ or ‘me’ blocks any true insight

Mirror like awareness. Just as a mirror has no back to it and everything that appears in the mirror is empty and also empty of any volition, devoid of any separation from the mirror, awareness is similar.  The mirror is flat, basically it is two dimensional.  You cannot see the mirror!  The reflecting surface is full of reflection.   Unlike the mirror, awareness has zero dimensions.  All dimensions appear within the scope of awareness.  Awareness knows nothing about time (in a manner of speaking). Nothing appearing in awareness has any separate nature from awareness.  It is all awareness.  Nothing is […]

The disappearance of seeking

Seeking knowledge of your own true being is like an itch.  It won’t leave you alone until you know the totality of your aloneness.  No one wants to be nothing. The resolution of non-existing problems about non existing things is impossible.  A mouse chasing its own tail in an effort to complete its own being is absurd but that is what seekers appear to do.  They are doing nothing in reality. Silence, stillness.   Stillness, movement.  The core of all existence is a movement in stillness. Stillness is meaningless without movement.   One can perceive the movement. The stillness remains […]

Consciously witness responses in body-mind

Many get offended on behalf of an image in their own mind.  The ‘me fixation’ is the cause of all psychological suffering.  Without belief in the ‘me’, the fixation naturally dissolves. Nature flows.  A river will flow around thousands of obstacles and reach the ocean. The belief in ‘me’ is an unnecessary obstacle but no one investigates it.  Consciousness has no preference for this or that. All phenomena ‘appearing to be’ is simply registering as is. Psychological responses are relative to states of mind and range from imperceptible to extreme pathological responses. Awareness is not divided into levels or parts. […]

No one but you

No one can ‘do it’ for you.   Those who perceive entities (with belief) have not realised anything. Through belief in things that are not, you have limited yourself by ‘creating’ a cage of belief. The cage is composed of concepts. What substance does any concept have? The infinite potentiality is spontaneously ever present and no thing can ever put any limits upon it. Nothing can limit the infinite nature of existence (or non-existence). Presence and absence are infinitely entwined like a rope.  Space and content of space are the same. For so-called ‘human beings’ the infinite potentiality, even though it […]

Only a series of words – the inner conflict (if any) is yours.

You live in a world of concepts, juggling ideas, words and fabricated meaning and trying to arrive at a conclusion that will satisfy your mind.  You have overlooked the fact that the mind is in constant movement and changes every moment.  You have overlooked the fact that a belief can never be real. You defend your beliefs as if they were a treasure worth clinging to. All of your opinions are clouded by your beliefs and are based on nothing but sensations from the past. You have not recognised that everything is a sensation, whether it be an experience of […]

Be wise – investigate

The spiritual realm is certainly not what it appears to be.   Self-delusion is the common feature of most spiritual groups and religion alike.  Belief and faith are unquestioned gods to them all.  Ignorance parading as knowledge can only fool the unwary. The capacity of escaping from erroneous belief appears to be related directly to the degree of being sucked into the belief in being a separate entity. Those who question their beliefs do so only because some degree of freedom from belief still occupies some of their experiencing and it vibrates presently like the sound of a bell. Acknowledging the bell […]

The ‘doer’ is imaginary

“You can do nothing. What time has brought about, time will take away. This is the end of yoga, to realise independence. All that happens, happens to the mind, not to the source ‘I am’. Once you realise that all happens by itself (call it destiny, or the will of God or mere accident), you remain as witness only, understanding and enjoying, but not perturbed. You are responsible only for what you can change. All you can change is only your attitude. There lies your responsibility”. – Nisargadatta Maharaj   ………………………………………………. To put it all in a nutshell, I can […]
