Just see what appears to happen.

Window on the World – Photo by Gilbert

The world and the mind are one and the same.  The world is the mind and the mind is the world.  The mind is concepts.  The world is concepts.  What you are seeing is not the world.  The world is perception based on memory.  The nature of ‘what is’ is ‘seeing-knowing’.  The nature of the world is a story of time and space.  Time and space are the same, both are appearance only.   What appears, disappears instantly.

Watch the mind and see what happens.  It is all appearance.  The world is apparently infinite.  As you move ‘your attention’ the world unfolds as ever fresh impressions.  Where does the last impression go, when the new impression appears to take place?

Where does everything register?

With the slightest shift into a fresh interest in what is actually happening, the mind ceases to engage in habits of perception.

Get familiar with this ‘movement’ and be free from the habits of mind.

Don’t ask ‘who is going to do it?’ – drop it all.

See and be what you truly are.

Natural state.

The natural state is a way of describing the manner in which the essence of life expresses itself.  Nature has no reference points in conflict with other reference points. It has no reference points at all.  Nature flows like a river.  When you were a young baby you did not have any words.  The natural state of a baby is clearly obvious and natural.  A baby displays many qualities of consciousness, without language or words.  A parent may feel good about the first words their child ‘says’ or imitates.  You may remember early school classes where you learned to give sounds to letters.  C and K sounded similar if not the same.  Learning how words or labels belong to certain ‘things’ became the basis of building stories about things and events.  The central character in our stories is usually ‘me’.  Another character may be predominant but the ‘me’ is the reference point closest to ‘home’.  Even though millions of words and concepts have played upon that consciousness that you call yourself, none of them have altered the underlying natural state.  The natural state is wordless and silent.  If you pause a thought for one moment, the natural state is obvious.  This pausing thought  can be a very useful new habit.  If you form this new habit, then the habit of incessant chatter can be broken effortlessly.  The resistance is the belief in ‘me’.  If you can recognise that the ‘me’ is just a thought or idea, then the pausing thought will be easier each time.   No harm can come to the natural state, what you truly are.   The ‘me’ fixation may appear to put up a fight.  With a clear intention, the habit of belief in ‘me’ can be broken.   Clear pointing is received more openly once the habit of incessant fixation with ‘me’ abates.

Richard Miller interview with Gilbert

Comment on video: “Just watched this interview and you were delightful, genuine. I had always thought you were an aggressive advaita grump just from reading your comments to others across the www. Another concept shattered!” – Joseph

The written word can be very misleading – there is no tone of voice and the face expression is not visible. A lot of angst ‘happens’ over nothing, very often” – Gilbert

For Never Not Here video podcast site fans – Richard Miller interviews Gilbert.  How we utilise the resource of ‘reality’ is up to the approach we take?  The interview has some good moments over all.

The sum total of all there is

The sum total of all there is, is not knowledge.  It is silent being.   How could there be more mis-understanding then understanding?

How could this moment ever be divorced from the totality of what is?   How could a tiny fragment of the wholeness be separate from the wholeness, in any way shape or form?

Your own perfection is a unique expression of the totality.   Whether the expression is imagined to be positive or negative, it can only be imaginary.

You are existence itself.     Transient points of view have no substance.   Seeing the truth of that does not set you apart from anything.

The Totality is the Totality.    It is not some ‘big’ entity in the sky.

Your own intimate sense of being is THAT.   Thought cannot divide THAT.

Natural presence is all you need

Natural presence is all you need and you are already THAT.

What more do you need or want?

Knocking on a door that wont open

A believed in entity, searches for a meaning for its apparent isolation.  It is like an invisible man that knocks on a door that will never open.

When you look for the entity, you cannot find it.  When you look at the door, it is made of old attitudes, second hand ideas, conceptual bricks, held together with a weak mortar made of belief.

Seeing that the door will never open, one ceases to knock.   The relief is immediate.

Websites appear and disappear.

Everything that appears, disappears.  Even the duration of a thought is impossible to measure.  It appears and disappears as if in the same instant.  Spoken words vanish instantly.  If you try to remember something you said yesterday at 1.15 pm you will most likely be unable to.  Where are yesterdays personal dramas or last years?  Carrying around resentments requires energy and belief.  If you are over tired a lot of the time it may be because the internal dialog habit is draining you of your natural vitality.  Stop the story of me and see in this livingness, this clear and present moment right now, if the true nature of mind is clear and empty.

The ONLY value any words can have is in recognising the truth of what they may be pointing at.

In a split second the words have done their ‘job’.   The words are no longer necessary.

The off beat nature of ‘my notes’ over many years have found the odd recipient who recognises something.  The entertainment value is what most enjoy.  Most so-called ‘spiritual’ websites are dry, static and down right boring.  They require subservient followers or believers.  It appears that I have kicked and pushed the boundaries of what is acceptable.  Many have been shocked and annoyed by ‘my words’.

What amazes me is that simple and clear notes, notes that point efficiently with a few chosen words, rarely call forth any response.  The animated and controversial notes bring a flurry of reactions.

Upsetting those who cling to beliefs is unavoidable if clear pointing is to be shared.

After many years of sharing my notes, I notice that the predominant response is indifference.

Who cares?

Seekers are self-centered creatures who are only interested in themselves and what they imagine that they can get.

The pointers that point to the fact that what you seek you already are are passed over like a stray stick on the path.

Nothing lost, nothing gained.

P.S.  Wheeler’s site is back.

The un-doer of identified consciousness.

Witness the disappearance of a thought.

observe the absence of a witness.

The conditioned mind is a belief.

If you were living on the moon for a decade or ten, observing this planet, the scene would not change very much.

The drama of the sentient beings would not be visible. Disappearing forests may be observed.

Weather patterns would be ever fresh and yet similar to the general patterns that repeat themselves with variety.

No words would appear in the open view. All the knowledge of ‘mankind’ would not be visible.

Without ‘news data’ from Earth, even the most dramatic events, events that may have echoed around the planet for ten years, would not be observable.

Would ‘truth’ ever be obscured in your vision at any time?

We think we are so important and isn’t it our image of self that blocks our open view of what is true?

The past does not exist if you are not thinking about it.  See the truth of this fact, now.

The conditioned mind is a belief and if you stop thought for one instant this fact can be perceived in one instant.

LIFE lives through the WHOLE – the appearance is not reality.

The un-manifest is real.

The clear darkness, out of which all seeing is happening.

There is no entity in it.

There is no entity here that wants approval, or praise.

There is no entity at all.

Whatever animates all sentient beings is one energy, one life.

There is only life.

‘You’ cannot move your little finger without that life essence, life force.

If you want intimacy, then seek the intimacy of life itself.

That is the gift available to all, and is all.

No middleman.

God is space – “Let no man come between you and your God”.

How can ‘I’ see reality?

There is no ‘I’ that can actually see.  The ‘I’ is a word, a conceptual ‘identity’ and just like any other word, it has no capacity of seeing or knowing anything at all.  It is inert – and it only has a seeming power through the natural flow of energy, the life force, the life essence.

It is not that the activity of seeing is some special quality that one must come to acquire or cultivate.  It is ordinary everyday seeing.

The activity of ‘seeing’ is not limited to the eyes or the body.

It is actually a Cosmic function, every where, every when and every time.  No one has ‘seeing’, as if they acquired it as some special possibility after ‘hard labor or after some long and protracted practice.

The subject and the object of seeing is nothing but seeing itself, seeing appearing ‘as’ apparent forms – and all apparent forms appear nowhere other than in the seeing……. and they ARE the seeing…...(just as the form we call ice is nothing other than water).

A concept cannot see.  Recognise the simplicity of that.

The conditioned mind does not exist in this immediate, non conceptual, presence-awareness.

One can see this as a fact – and in this moment of clear seeing, it is noticed that there is no entity that is seeing anything – yet seeing is most definitely happening.

Seeing is knowing – not two.
