Conviction and belief

(Emailed question) Bonjour, Sure, it’s natural, as ordinary individual aren’t we not manipulated by this deep conviction that we are this individual ? And on what is based our conviction ? On our experience but also on beliefs. These beliefs come from individuals we trust. These beliefs are also based on social consensus which come from a group of trustworthy people. If I am Chritian I adopt Christian credo. If I feel environmentally aware I adopt ecologist credo. I naturally and relatively trust my parents, friends, teachers… As ordinary people we are social people. Isn’t it natural that conservation and […]

No concept has any duration

The problem is that we’re trying to grasp this awareness with the mind. And as has been pointed out, the mind is time. We really need to recognize that the mind is time. The body appears in the mind. The mind appears in awareness. Awareness is timeless. So this idea of being somebody trying to grasp awareness is just an appearance in the mind, which is time. The mind appears to be constantly trying to become something better (or worse) and it can never get there, except conceptually.  If you realize that then you’re not going to invest all this […]

Transcript of ‘Emptiness’

Transcript of the audio (on this site titled) ‘Emptiness’.    Courtesy of one reader who resonates with the message.  Edited version.  The audio is in the Audio Section on this site.   “So, this sitting quietly dropping all concepts and all the words, is an inexplicable presence, I am that, which includes everything, it’s all inclusive because everything and every person, every animal, every phenomenal object is ‘an appearance’ and that includes every so-called ‘person’, every great guru, great teacher…Jesus, Buddha, whomever, whatever.  We might think that some ‘great teacher’ is an ‘important person’ but the immediate evidence is that […]

Fighting nature is futile

Through the habit of ignoring our natural state, there is a tendency to reject anything that points to the core problem, which is belief in me, a separate entity, fabricated from stories about that me, experiences and events, woven into an imaginary fabric, me. Therefore, unless there is a resonance, a genuine resounding in being to really cast off the false, then the automatic habits of belief will disrupt any chance of recognizing our true nature. In the appearance, in the scheme of things, the world is in turmoil and unrest.  So called authorities are demonstrating more and more a […]

Questions and answers

Q: I have some questions.  I always read your post here and they are amazing clarity. I have tried to follow your directions in the investigation of the “I” but I’ve noticed that the more I try to find the “I”  the more it escapes me. It seems that when we undertook the search of “I”, the mind always brings distractions. So it seems that it takes a little effort on our part to seek the “I” and not be distracted. What practice do you recommend? Reply: No practice.  Prescriptive teachings are for spiritual kindergarden. ‘Do this’ and such and […]

No Hook – No Bait

Only through erroneous belief can we (appear to) hold ourselves separate or apart from the natural state of livingness, life itself. It is pristinely obvious that without a concept of being separate, there is no separation.  Even with the ‘heaviest concept’ appearing to fill the mind with obsession of being separate, there is NO separation in the actuality. Even in the circumstance of so-called ‘deep identification’ the life energy continues to beat the heart (under the cloud of personal drama and psychological duress). The body affects the mind just as the state of mind affects the body.  Belief in being […]

The unchanging reality is no thing

Before words and language came along, reality ‘was’ as it is. All there ever actually is, is this ever present IS-NESS.  How could you miss this self-evident fact? Well, how? Because of belief in words and an obsession with ‘me’….that is how. Billions upon trillions of words have been uttered in thousands of languages.  Trillions of words have been written down on paper, printed in books, carved in stone, cut into wood and scratched or painted upon billions of surfaces and reality is still as it is. All personal drama and psychological suffering is due to belief in words, as if […]

Nothing is what it pretends to be

In the scheme of things almost everyone only hears what fits in with their beliefs. The clear message expressed by a clear messenger is packed with pointers. Listening from mind’s ‘me perspective’ (self-centeredness) does not allow the message to register cleanly. (The me perspective is like a child with crayons scribbling over a master piece of art work) Trying to fit new pointers into ‘old self-knowledge’ (the Me of Memory) is pointless.  Not only is there no answer in the mind, there is no true knowledge either. It is naturally seen, heard and felt, where everyone is coming from, however […]

Tripping over believed in things

The believed in entity is like a man wandering about, tripping over his own shoe laces. Oblivious to his own dilemma, he ignores the pure intelligence while he flips between dreaming of ‘tomorrow’ and being consumed by ‘yesterday’. Instead of investigating what is tripping him up, he focuses on ever new imaginary goals and blames his own problem on anything but the actual cause.  Anyone who points out that his shoe laces need tying up is either ignored or told to mind their own business. Common teachers keep engaging the believed in entity and they encourage the fixations on ‘me’ […]

Timeless awareness shines of itself

Bring your attention to the immediacy of this livingness and let all the chatter and ‘stories of me’ fade away.  Be nothing other than the unthought naked cognition, which is always present as effortless being. If you go look for hidden meanings where there are none, the mind will take the believed in ‘you’ on a journey and that is always away from the immediacy of non-conceptual awareness. If ‘you’ through ‘the belief in me’ attribute any ’cause’ to this uncaused spontaneous nature of consciousness, then ‘you’ seemingly create a puzzle for that ‘me’ and then ‘you’ wonder why ‘you’ […]
