By no means, what is, is what is

It is so common to recognize in so many ‘seekers’ a pattern of subtle belief.  They get accustomed to the ‘pointing’ and believe they have acquired some ‘true understanding’.   In such cases it looks like the old ‘position’ of me is just replaced with a new ‘position’ of me.  Listening to them expound their understanding is like listening to an orchestra that has the string section playing out of tune.  Lead violin is played by the me (is the me) and all the other facets of the personality follow suit.   The fixation on me is called self-centeredness.   […]

Correspondence

Hello Gilbert, There is a knowing that I am ‘that’ but the mind seems to know all kinds of stuff, and it likes to get involved in various debates etc.. No matter what the mind thinks, I am still that, but my question is how does the mind stabilize in this knowing? Will the mind ever stop getting lost in the content of awareness? Best regards, W. Reply: There is no one in the content to get lost or to find itself.   The seeking never actually started.   But you have to discover this for yourself.  Without discovering this, then the apparent seeking […]

Belief in a fiction does not make it real

What is your point of view? Do you own a point of view?   Do you defend a point of view?   What substance does your point of view have?   Is it located anywhere in particular?   How well do you know your point of view?   Surely, if you claim to have a point of view, you must know it VERY well.  Investigate these ‘things’ and  be open to recognizing the truth of your point of view.  All of our problems are due to belief in being something that we are not. Denying our true nature and defending […]

A brief email exchange

Mark: Gilbert, I am struggling to pay no attention to my mind and believe all of this is just happening to me, sometimes though I get days where I just let thoughts come and go without getting caught up in them and I feel good…. and in touch and I feel the ‘I don’t care about what happens’ is that the right track to be on – just not follow ones thoughts as though they don’t mean anything…. but it seems like an effort sometimes to not follow them – could you clarify this for me. – Mark. Gilbert’s Reply: […]

Seeing-knowing

Seeing – Knowing.   This note was published on 28th April 2009.  It has been cleaned up slightly and re-published today 3rd Dec 2013 (with the date 28th Nov 2013) ……….. Can anything exist outside of this seeing, this knowing? Doesn’t everything appear in this immediate seeing, this immediate knowing? Elemental space appears as ‘the world’ or the universe.   What it all appears upon is pure space. It is ALL-SEEING, it is ALL-KNOWING. The apparent limited view of an individual is due to believing in a division of a singularity.  The ‘seer’ and ‘the seen’ or the ‘knower’ and […]

Still wanting something

Insights come and go.  Do not try to hold onto insights.  Recalling old insights expecting to reap benefits from them is a kind of ‘holding or clinging onto insights’ AND such activity occupies the mind with unnecessary considering…. and on occasion  vanity shows up as self-centered preening of the imagined self image.  Self-centeredness is never satisfied.   Eating cardboard or low quality food does not satisfy the bodies needs.   All these words being used are ordinary words.  Words appear to be a medium for a message of some sort.   The same words rearranged in a different order will […]

Nothing re-presents reality – reality is no thing

It is (so-called) important to make a point of one thing here. No one is asked to believe anything that is written on this website. Many ‘pointers’ appear throughout the hundreds of notes on this site and in my eBooks and in the various audio files. Belief is useless when it comes to knowing your own true nature.   No belief is ever the actuality.  Just like no word is ever what it re-presents. The only value in any of this is through an insight or a spontaneous recognition. No methods or practices are implied. Seeing is happening.  There is no […]

AM is the verb ‘to be’

Is it still possible to get lost in the story of me? How can that be anything that is true? All concepts are sensations.  Every thought, feeling, idea, memory, image and nervous twitch is a sensation.  Duration and volume, time and space are sensations. Concepts appear as a network of belief and clusters of concepts will always lead the mind away from the simplicity of presence-awareness if they are believed in. You cannot get out of the now (presence). Only conceptually can it be believed that, ‘I am lost’ …..or ‘I was lost’.  Even ‘I am enlightened’ is a fiction, […]

Separation is an uncertain illusion of mind

All things are sensible.  You cannot conceive of something, anything at all, which is not a sensation.  Try and see for yourself. When faced with the concepts about oneness or totality many say they agree intellectually but insist that they feel separate. The word they use is ‘feel’ and feel is referring to a sensation. In the direct clear evidence of present awareness there is no ground for any separation.  Even physically, the body is appearing in what we call the world and any sense of being separate is only conceptual. The body is made of elements from ‘the world’ […]

The mind cannot divide anything but itself

Everything appears in the seeing. There is no distinct see-er. There is only seeing.  There is only knowing. This ‘knowledge’ cannot be contrived by mind and to put the label ‘knowledge’ onto it is ‘too much’. The apparent local activity of seeing, seemingly forms a conceptual ‘see-er’ (me or self-centre) but that apparent see-er cannot ‘see’ – it is a concept. How can a concept see? Non Duality means ‘One without a second’.   Not two.   All of our labels (millions of them) imply multiplicity.  The essence of the word is vibration (sound).  The entire universe is One Vibration, […]
