I especially like the ear and what you say about the ear merely picks up vibrations and the knowing translates that into identifiable sounds.

Talking of oak trees, the oak in the garden which a few months ago was that brilliant
chlorophyll spring green is now a deep green, so dark as to appear black. On that huge tree the eyes were drawn to one leaf that had changed to brown.
Soon the emperor will start losing his garments and once again stand naked.
Even the mighty oak becomes exposed.
